[PANEL DISCUSSION] 💬 Panel discussion on “Contemporary Dance in Tanzania” organized by @af_dar in collaboration with @asedeva_tanzania

AGENDA ZETU is a series of panel discussion with different topics in each panel Discussion aiming to explore and have discussion on freedom of expression, health, culture, social, economics, politics and gender dynamics to the erosion of mainstream media and top debaters to be included in this AGENDA ZETU DEBATE to guide us/audience through Tanzanian social ways.

Panelists:

Dorine Mugisha is an artist, choreographer, and teacher interested in themes of identity, belonging, and confidence through movement. Of Tanzanian heritage, born in France and living between the UK and Tanzania, this influences her work and she speaks four languages. She grew up training in hip-hop and street styles, later embracing Whacking/Punking, a dance style emphasizing storytelling, posing, and sharp movements.

Matthieu Nieto is a multidisciplinary artist using the performing arts to foster social change, challenge cultural narratives, and inspire self-transformation. He holds a Master’s degree in Performing Arts (2017) and a Bachelor’s in Dance (2015) from Paris 8 University. He is the artistic director of Movements Migrateurs, a Toulouse-based organization that has produced his work since 2013, and the Wondarland Project, a dance and performance initiative in Dar es Salaam.

Aloyce Makonde is a Tanzanian choreographer and dance/Actor, he is a founder of Visa 2 Dance a first contemporary dance festival in Tanzania 2007 to 2012, he is a graduate of the Bagamoyo College of Arts (TASUBA) where he received a diploma in performing arts 1997. From 1998 to 2000, he worked in the Siluette Dance project with Skanes Dance Theatre choreographed by Lena
Josefsson in Sweden.
