🎨 Resident Artist: Mmadi Ausiy
AiR Spice is a new residency program by Emerson Spice Hotel in collaboration with the Emerson Zanzibar Foundation, created to uplift and promote Zanzibari visual artists. The program transforms hospitality spaces into vibrant cultural hubs where art is not just displayed, but created, shared, and experienced in real time.
This season, we welcome our third resident artist, Mmadi Ausiy. His artistic journey began under the inspiration of his brother, Hamza, and grew through years of discipline and passion at the House of Culture. From imitating others to shaping his own unique style, Mmadi’s story is one of resilience and love for the craft.
Throughout his two-month residency, Mmadi will be working live at the Secret Garden of Emerson Spice, inviting guests and visitors to witness his creative process, engage with his art, and share in meaningful exchanges.
AiR Spice is more than an art residency it’s a bridge between artists, community, and visitors, placing Zanzibari creativity at the center of cultural experience.
