✨ Who is RAS GWANDUMI?
Ras Gwandumi has been the heartbeat of Tanzania’s reggae since the late 1980s. A 1994 graduate of Bagamoyo College of Arts, he sharpened his sound both in Tanzania and the UK, performing with legendary bands like URITH (1989–93), The SHEPHERDS (1994–96), UNIVERSAL PLAYERS (1996), and TRUE ELEMENT (creators of the hit “Awake”).
Returning home, he co-founded MACHIFU Band, and later in 2023, he co-founded BONGO ROOTS — his current project, redefining Tanzania’s reggae fusion. A prolific songwriter, composer, and performer, Ras Gwandumi continues to inspire with unwavering dedication.
