Art Talk & Iftar with Gadi Ramadhani
Join Gadi Ramadhan for a special Art Talks followed by Iftar. Fruitful disucssions on Gadi’s current exhibition “My Father’s Widow” will take place and all are invited to break bread together after.
The exhibition My Father’s Widow by Tanzanian artist Gadi Ramadhani delves into the profound emotional and societal impact of death. Through a series of works created with charcoal and acrylic paint, the exhibition examines how loss reshapes familial and social dynamics, particularly focusing on the widow’s role. The rawness of charcoal embodies sorrow and isolation, while acrylic’s layered textures convey the depth of grief and resilience. By merging traditional African motifs with contemporary abstraction, Gadi portrays death as both a personal and collective experience, prompting viewers to reflect on societal perceptions of grief, leadership, and the roles assigned to women in times of loss.
The exhibition invites audiences to question these societal constructs and engage with the universal themes of transformation and defiance amidst adversity. Gadi’s work ultimately seeks to spark deeper conversations about how we navigate spaces shaped by loss, highlighting the emotional and cultural dimensions of mourning.
