Get ready for an empowering and vibrant night of live music with Bahati Female Band – Afro-fusion (TZ).
Founded in 2020 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the band is made up of 20 talented young women passionate about music, dance, and drama. They combine traditional instruments, modern and contemporary dance, and African rhythms to entertain diverse audiences. Some members are disabled but highly skilled.
The band aims to empower women, nurture young talent, and provide a platform for budding artists. They have performed at major Tanzanian music festivals and were nominated at the Tanzania Music Awards in 2022 & 2023. In 2021, they received the Champion Prize from the European Union Delegation in Tanzania for their work in women empowerment.
They have run the Binti Sanaa Project, supporting young women artists through training and mentorship, and are currently implementing the Nithamini Project, a one-year initiative combining band capacity building with music advocacy for disability rights, including a tour across five Tanzanian regions.
