Synopsis:

About nine years before the fall of the Wall: Barbara Wolff, a doctor from Berlin, is exiled to a rural hospital near the Baltic Sea after applying for an exit visa to leave the German Democratic Republic (GDR). Barbara Wolff works there as a pediatric surgeon under constant surveillance by the State Security. Her new supervisor and director of the Hospital André Reiser appears to be cooperating with the state security employees – but how far would he go if a serious case were to occur?
Meanwhile Barbara plans her escape with the help of her West German Lover, Jörg, who arranges for her to be smuggled to Denmark by sea.
On the night of her planned escape Barbara faces a life changing decision – will she choose to escape or to stay?
