SUMMARY:CALL FOR TANZANIAN CREATIVES
DESCRIPTION:Open call for Tanzanian creatives (visual artists\, architects\, designers\, carpenter\, etc.) to join in the development and execution of participatory workshops for the design of playgrounds and sports fields in northern Pemba. \n\nBACKGROUND \n\n\nThe PURE Pemba urban resilience through ecosystem-based approaches project is part of the EU funded Green and Smart Cities Sasa Programme. A collaboration between Instituto Oikos (lead partner)\, Insituto Oikos East Africa and African Architecture Matters. \nThe project’s main objective is to make the main urban areas of North Pemba safe\, inclusive\, resilient and sustainable by promoting integrated urban development through a multi-stakeholder approach. Specifically\, the action aims at enhancing urban resilience in Wete and Micheweni urban areas by increasing access to basic services especially for women and children. \nAs part of the project\, African Architecture Matters is planning to upgrade a number of playgrounds and sport fields in Wete and Micheweni area using a participatory approach. We will organize a number of workshops together with children and youth discussing and designing the public spaces they would like to see. But we cannot do this without you! \n\n\nWHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR: \n\n\n\nA background in visual arts\, design\, architecture\, carpentry or similar field\nAbility to develop hands-on workshops with children\nUnderstanding of public space and the variety of usages\nAbility to translate ideas in design concepts for the selected spaces\nOpen-minded and outgoing mindset\nCommunicatively strong with people of different age-ranges\nNative Swahili speaker\, good with English\nPemban born creatives have a preference\n\n\nMore info on: \nhttps://www.aamatters.nl/pureplay
