DESCRIPTION:Hassan Mahenge is a multi-talented musician from Tanzania.He is a composer\, multi-instrumentalist and Music teacher.\nOn stage Hassani Mahenge is a dynamic performer with extensive experience in cross-cultural collaborations\,playing Oud\,Alto saxophone and traditional percussion.\nHassani studied African\, eastern and western musical styles He graduated from the Dhow Countries Music Academy in 2011 holding a diploma in music education in general.\nHe has collaborated with musicians across three continents\,America\, Asia\,and europe.he has been working as a music teacher\, and performer for many years so far.\nHe has been touring around europe performing in the biggest music festival as well as conducting master classes about East African music cultural agreements.\nHe is the former Artistic director of the Dhow Countries Music Academy in Zanzibar.\nCurrently Hassani Mahenge performs with Siti Muharram and Unguja All stars Playing Oud (Arabic lute)back vocal\,and he is the band leader of the band.\nHassan Mahenge is also the soulful saxophonist of Wakorofi Jazz Trio\, breathes life into the melodies with his virtuoso saxophone skills. Delving into the Eastern music tradition\, particularly Taarab music and traditional drumming\, Hassan’s saxophone solos bridge the gap between tradition and innovation. His musical prowess and dedication to preserving cultural roots make him an integral part of the trio’s enchanting sound.

DESCRIPTION:Botanical Prints Workshop at Nafasi Art Space\nOverview:\nBotanical printing\, also known as ecoprinting\, is a unique and unpredictable process that varies with the seasons. In this workshop\, participants will learn to print leaves and flowers on fabric and paper. The process involves pre-processing the fabric and paper\, then boiling or steaming them at 100 degrees Celsius. This causes the leaves and flowers to release their colors and tannins\, often resulting in unexpected colors. \nWorkshop Duration:\nApproximately 2-3 hours. \nWhat Participants Should Bring:\n– Leaves and flowers \nWhat Nafasi Will Provide:\n– A large pan (at least 50 liters) that can hold sticks of about 30 cm\n– A gas set and gas bottle for the pan\n– 30 round sticks (about 30 cm long and 2-3 cm in diameter\, such as old broomsticks)\n– 4 buckets \nWhat Carola Will Bring:\n– Prepared fabrics for up to 30 participants\n– Dye herbs \nSuggested Leaves and Flowers:\n– Dandelum (cranesbill)\n– Rose\n– Strawberry\n– Oak\n– Apple\n– Plum\n– Other fruit trees\n– Walnut\n– Prunus\n– Maple (various types) \nThe workshop will guide you through the steps of creating beautiful and unique prints\, using the natural colors and patterns from the leaves and\nflowers. \n

DESCRIPTION:Botanical Prints Workshop at Nafasi Art Space\nOverview:\nBotanical printing\, also known as ecoprinting\, is a unique and unpredictable process that varies with the seasons. In this workshop\, participants will learn to print leaves and flowers on fabric and paper. The process involves pre-processing the fabric and paper\, then boiling or steaming them at 100 degrees Celsius. This causes the leaves and flowers to release their colors and tannins\, often resulting in unexpected colors. \nWorkshop Duration:\nApproximately 2-3 hours. \nWhat Participants Should Bring:\n– Leaves and flowers \nWhat Nafasi Will Provide:\n– A large pan (at least 50 liters) that can hold sticks of about 30 cm\n– A gas set and gas bottle for the pan\n– 30 round sticks (about 30 cm long and 2-3 cm in diameter\, such as old broomsticks)\n– 4 buckets \nWhat Carola Will Bring:\n– Prepared fabrics for up to 30 participants\n– Dye herbs \nSuggested Leaves and Flowers:\n– Dandelum (cranesbill)\n– Rose\n– Strawberry\n– Oak\n– Apple\n– Plum\n– Other fruit trees\n– Walnut\n– Prunus\n– Maple (various types) \nThe workshop will guide you through the steps of creating beautiful and unique prints\, using the natural colors and patterns from the leaves and\nflowers.

DESCRIPTION:Join the workshop “The Race: Stop Motion Animation Workshop” with Konokono Collective (Sarah Brown and Greg Smith\, from Canada ) on Thursday\, July 18\, and Friday\, July 19\, 2024\, at NAFASI ARTS SPACE! \nThis immersive 2-day workshop will teach you the fundamentals of stop motion animation\, including movement\, speed\, and the use of light and sound. Participants will get hands-on experience with Dragonframe software and practical animation skills. \nDay 1: \nMorning (9:00 am – 12:30 pm): Kick-off with a welcome session\, followed by a presentation and live demonstration by Konokono Collective. \nAfternoon (12:30 pm – 4:30 pm): Dive into animating characters in small groups\, guided by Sarah and Greg\, and create your own animation segments. \nDay 2:\nMorning (9:00 am – 12:30 pm): Focus on bringing your characters to life by recording voices and sound effects. \nAfternoon (1:00 pm – 3:00 pm): Choose between mixing and rendering the soundtrack with Greg or making clay characters and learning about wireframes. \nClosing (3:00 pm – 4:00 pm): Wrap up with a “Show and Tell” session where we’ll screen the film created over the workshop.
