Vitali Maembe:
Born in Sumbawanga and raised in Dar es Salaam, Maembe’s music blends universal themes with the rich tapestry of Tanzanian culture. His compositions weave inland and coastal rhythms with thought-provoking lyrics, addressing societal issues and sparking dialogue for collective solutions. With performances spanning across Germany, Switzerland, Kenya, Uganda, and beyond, Maembe’s art has touched hearts worldwide. He also uses music for therapeutic purposes, including palliative care, highlighting the profound impact of art on healing and well-being.
Carola Daniel Amri Kinasha:
Born in Longido, Arusha, Carola is a songwriter, singer, and performer of popular afro-centric compositions. Her music conveys messages of traditional, pan-Africanist, and righteous activism. Graduating from the University of Dar es Salaam with a BA in International Relations, she started her musical activism in 1988 with the Shadda Band. Carola’s accolades include the MAA Africa Award 2000, and she has been recognized as a pioneer of traditional fusion music in Tanzania. From hosting the Busara Festival in Zanzibar to performing across Europe, England, and the Americas, Carola’s musical pedigree is unparalleled.
